Roblog: “Dear Sir or Madam, as a result of the temporary unexpectedly high demand for “…” there was a momentary overflow of our data processing.” (de, translate)
Though not yet finished, the new design for No Prerequisite is up. I’m relatively happy with how it turned out. It’s valid XHTML and CSS, and I will be working on accessibility as I have time/uncover problems. The design is meant to be simple, with easy access to my most recent writings. I’ve also included links to indicate language preference, but unfortunately the German content usually lags behind the English. A new feature is the “Elsewhere” section, featuring shorter, link-centric entries that don’t need or deserve as much space.
For those that are wondering, “Fiat Lux” literally translates to “Let there be light,” but can also refer to knowledge.
“If you think you saw a mountain lion, you probably saw a dog, according to Iowa Department of Natural Resources officials…”: I can just see it now… “Dear, come look at this! The neighbor has a mountain lion on a leash!”
History of Father’s Day: “Retailers encourage the giving of hardware, tools and other suitable gifts on the day.”
I think one of the reasons I like computers and technology is the nature of ‘digital stuff’: you can keep getting more and more of it without filling up your room/apartment/house/what-have-you. Now, by ‘digital stuff’ I don’t mean hardware, but software, files, etc. And yes, I know that eventually one would need to get more storage, and that storage of ‘digital stuff’ does take up physical space, but with modern hard-drives and digital media it’s hardly an important consideration.
Compare that with physical stuff, the sort of stuff littering my room. I’ve got too much of it, don’t want to part with it, and have no place to put it. And it keeps accumulating. I can still find what I need and what I want, which is something I can’t always say about my digital stuff, but things would be so much easier if it wasn’t all over my floor, covering my bed, and filling my closet right up to the ceiling. I would gladly spend a little extra time searching for things if things wouldn’t take up so much darn physical space.
Yes, I should be cleaning my room right now.
WP-Refer is a quick plugin I put together to record and display referers to individual posts. These are stored in custom fields (wp-refer) for each post. Certain referers can be excluded; by default Google and your site’s URL are excluded. Others can be added by editing the source code of wp-refer.php.

Another day, another version of my Language Picker Plugin. New features in version .9:
